Synapticon at NVIDIA GTC Berlin and RoboBusiness in October
During the week of October 20, Synapticon will be on-site on two continents. At NVIDIA GTC Berlin, we’ll be demonstrating Safe Human Detection live, and at RoboBusiness in Silicon Valley, we’ll be discussing why humanoid robots require a different safety concept than traditional industrial robots.
NVIDIA GTC BERLIN, OCTOBER 21 AND 22
At the NexCOBOT booth (#7040) at STATION-Berlin, we’ll be demonstrating Safe Human Detection, a component of POSITRON Safety AI, running on NVIDIA IGX Thor. The setup is intentionally simple: a robot head with a camera, a monitor, and the computing hardware. Anyone who steps in front of the camera can see in real time how the system detects people and how a simulated humanoid reacts when a person gets too close.
At the same booth, NexCOBOT will be showcasing the RCB400 humanoid controller alongside our ACTILINK-JD08 actuator. Synapticon will be represented there as part of the NVIDIA Halo ecosystem. Dr. Florian Weißhardt, Head of Synapticon Intelligence, and Dieter Volpert, who is contributing to the ISO standard for dynamically stable robots, will be on site.
ROBOBUSINESS, SANTA CLARA, OCTOBER 20 AND 21
You can find us at Booth 607 at RoboBusiness at the Santa Clara Convention Center. On Tuesday, October 20, at 11:45 a.m., Jan Kaiser will speak in the Engineering Theater on "The Robot Out of the Cage: Advanced Functional Safety for Humanoids."
The key point: A humanoid is an inverted pendulum. If its power is simply cut off, it cannot stand steadily—it falls. Safe Torque Off, the standard safety measure in industrial robotics, is therefore insufficient for a two-legged robot. The presentation demonstrates how POSITRON Safety AI approaches safety for robots that walk, perceive their environment, and make decisions: through active, safe movements such as Safe Active Crouch and Safe Guided Falling; through safe motion monitoring across more than 30 axes; through Safe Human Detection; and through behavioral monitoring of the AI that controls the robot.
