Compact AGVs for massive loads

At Synapticon, we are convinced that innovative motion control is the key to increasing efficiency in industry. An impressive confirmation of this philosophy is our partnership with JNOV TECH from France, a company that specializes in the development of compact automated guided vehicles (AGVs) for heavy loads.

In many industries, forklift trucks are used to move goods. However, these are primarily designed for pallets and often take up a lot of space in the often cramped production environments. Large AGVs are an alternative, but they are also bulky and not always flexible enough for dynamic requirements.

Nicolas Dupeyron, co-founder and CEO of JNOV TECH, explains their innovative approach: "As humans, when we want to move a bigger load, we don't use bigger people. We use a team of people." JNOV TECH applies this principle to robots by developing small, mobile robots that work as a team to move heavy loads of any size and weight.

‍Customer requirements: Simplicity, flexibility and compactness

JNOV TECH's customers are looking for products that are easy to use, take up little space and can be flexibly adapted to different sizes and weights. "Easy to use means that our products can be used without special training. Just a simple remote control with four directions - that's all," says Dupeyron. To achieve this, they have built their robots with the smallest components on the market and put them as close together as possible to obtain very compact robots.

Synapticon: The key to performance and compactness

For the flexibility of their systems, JNOV TECH has developed a solution that can coordinate up to four robots. These robots use wireless communication to move precisely in any direction. But the real challenge lay in the motion control itself. "Innovative solutions need to be tested on the market as quickly as possible," says Dupeyron. "Synapticon helped us to develop and integrate this in less than a year."

Benjamin Albespy, Design Engineer at JNOV TECH, explains the technical reasons for choosing Synapticon: "We chose Synapticon servo motors because of their advanced motion control features, which allow us to precisely control our robots at very low speed." The requirements were clear: a small and powerful servo motor. Synapticon was able to deliver a 1-kilowatt servo motor the size of a credit card - a remarkable achievement.

EtherCAT communication enables precise coordination of all the robot's axes. And safety, a critical aspect in the industry, is also ensured by the certified STO (Safe Torque Off) and SBC (Safe Brake Control) functions of the Synapticon servo motors, which meet all industry standards.

The future of intralogistics is compact and collaborative
The compactness and power density of the Synapticon product line allowed JNOV TECH to develop very small robots that can move loads of up to four tons. "Industries need to be able to adapt to changes in demand," explains Dupeyron. "To do this, they need flexible and reusable solutions in their production line." In the years to come, Jenov Tech and Synapticon plan to continue offering robust and flexible solutions to help companies adapt to these changes, and this success story is a prime example of how Synapticon is helping innovative companies push the boundaries of what is possible and sustainably improve the efficiency of industrial production by providing highly integrated, powerful and compact motion control systems.
