Synapticon SOMANET ultra-compact, high performance embeddable servo drives feature the highest current density in the market. They come fully equipped with all direct connectors, many feedback interfaces, complete protection, frameless EMC, certified functional safety and second to none integration support.
SOMANET Servo Nodes support all PMSM / Synchronous AC / BLDC motors up to 60V and feature an EtherCAT or CAN interface with CiA 402 DS protocol. Upon request, SOMANET drives can be equipped with standard Ethernet, PROFINET, SERCOS III and can also support Brushed DC motors.
Synapticon’s proprietary control technologies, such as Model-predictive Field-oriented Control, allow a low heat dissipation of the drives while keeping up high motion control frequencies, which are needed by precision robotics. Advanced disturbance compensation for sensor noise, non-linearity and torque ripple enable high quality motion even with medium to low cost motors and sensors.

The result: perfectly smooth and quiet drives as well as lowest heat-dissipation.
Synapticon drives can interface to a broad range of feedback encoders, torque and force sensors or even can read touch-sensitive skins and interpret LiDAR data (custom solutions). As they also allow advanced users to run custom software code locally, the computation of kinematic functions and the implementation of local reflexes based on sensor events and custom algorithms become possible on the servo drive.
A range of ultra-compact, high-performance servo drives for a diversity of applications. A Servo Node consists of three Modules: Communication (Com), Processor (Core) and Drive Module. Synapticon’s servo drives are among the most compact power electronics in the world. The drives can be integrated right next to the motors in a robot arm or inside a servo motor. For the first time in a standard servo drive: all the needs of a Cobot axis. Circulo Nodes can have up to two integrated encoders (17-18 bits) with a battery-based multi-turn option which automatically calibrates. In addition, the nodes offer onboard security features such as STO and SBC via a 24V I/O. Because the cable connections can easily be looped through, the wiring for EtherCAT, Logic Voltage, STO and SBC are extremely simple. In addition, there is an interface to external encoders for ABZ, SSI, BiSS-C and A-format. Circulo also offers an interface and mechanical device for a Cobot-type locking brake and a motor temperature sensor (PT100, PT1000, KTY).

The easiest way to evaluate SOMANET Servo Drives. The Kit combines an assembled and tested, industry-grade SOMANET Servo Node featuring Com EtherCAT, Core C2X and Drive 1000 and all required accessories. This Kit allows you to test SOMANET with permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM/BLDC) of various sizes up to 1000 W (48V/20A) and integrate them as slaves in your EtherCAT system.
There can be many reasons why a standard module doesn’t fit an application. Special feature requirements that are not covered by the standard SOMANET drives, low-cost targets particularly in mass applications, need for tight mechanical integration: Synapticon‘s SOMANET Servo Cores, being also at the heart of a standard SOMANET dirve, enable for custom designs. Synapticon’s Custom Design Services are there to carry out this development for you fast and efficiently. High-volume customers have the option to perform design and production of custom SOMANET modules in-house with own resources: SOMANET hardware and software source files are being made available to such clients and SOMANET Servo Cores are supplied to their in-house production.
